Project Overview

The art department at Old Dominion University is holding an Halloween event called Fright Night. For our class we decided to hold a mock election with a twist that the candidates must be an iconic monster. The deliverables for the project are a poster, pamphlet, and a yard sign or billboard.

Research

01.Hellraiser Franchise

I refreshed my knowledge on the Hellraiser Franchise by watching the first three installments and the most recent version on Hulu. Furthermore, to get more information on the Chatterer, I looked at the fan wiki to see if there was anything I missed or lore that wasn’t discussed in the movie.

Takeaway

During the Fright Night event, the teacher set up a voting system where people could vote for their top 3 candidates. The Cenobite ended up being the top 5 out of 27 candidates. Overall, people had a good reaction to it when I was talking to people in the area and got some compliments on my poster. I think that there could be some improvements in the illustration of the cenobite. Furthermore, this helped me learn how to create an identity around something that is already well-known.
