Research
01. Mental Health Servies
During our research, our first goal was to look for different mental health services around us. Starting with the Old Dominion University campus, we looked at the health and services department to find what they provide for the students on campus. After, we expanded our sights to mental health services surrounding Norfolk.
02. Photo Book Layout
For inspiration, we looked at some photobooks in our art library to see different layouts and ways of handling text. Furthermore, our teacher gave us some zines that helped us look at more layouts. Afterward, we made a quick sketch of what our magazines would look like.
Designing The Photobook
01. Photography
Our photo shoots took place over multiple weeks with both of us focusing on our mental health journey. We wanted the photography to highlight both of our different styles. That’s why we have photos in color, and black and white.
02. Interviewing River and Tiffany
One thing that we wanted in the photobook was an interview with people who struggle with their mental health. Tiffany and River were some colleagues at our internship that we knew struggled with mental health. We sent a questionnaire out to both of them and included their answers in the book
